Charlie
Brown
twenty years, every mark deliberate
A curated collection of selected tattoos created over more than two decades — rooted in calligraphy, graffiti, and bringing order from the chaos of everyday life.
THE WORK
"Rooted in over twenty years of tattooing and inspired by calligraphy, graffiti and bringing order from the chaos of everyday life, I create original paintings, calligraffiti, murals and custom tattoos."

EVERY PIECE
01
The Beginning
Charlie started tattooing over twenty years ago — learning by doing, making mistakes on willing skin, and gradually finding what the work was actually about. That turned out to be lettering.
Freehand script is unforgiving. There's no undo, no template, no software. Every letter has to land right the first time — in the right proportion, at the right angle, at the right weight.

The Work Grows
Tattooing is still the foundation — but the same eye and the same hand are now making things on paper, on canvas, and on walls.
Original artwork, murals, commissions — work that lives somewhere permanent, just in a different way. The expansion isn't a pivot away from tattooing.

Two Studios.
One Practice.
Charlie works from two studios — Edinburgh and Cardiff — splitting time between both throughout the year.
Both cities have been formative. Edinburgh for the light and the stone; Cardiff for the warmth and the community.

THE APPROACH
The Mark
Comes Last
Every project starts the same way — understanding what the piece needs to say, who it's for, and where it lives. Style and execution come after that. Always.
01 - Intention
Understand
Before You Mark
Whether it's a single word tattoo or a full-room mural — the meaning, the placement, and the audience all have to be clear before anything is drawn.
02 - Structure
Order From
the Chaos
Calligraphy and graffiti taught the same lesson: there's always a structure underneath the expression. Finding it is the work. Showing it is the skill.
03 - Premanence
Built to
Last Forever
Tattoos don't wash off. Neither should anything else. Every piece — on skin, paper, or wall — is made as if it will be there permanently. Because it will.
